Gravida Psychiatry offers a straightforward perinatal psychiatry referral pathway for healthcare professionals in Washington and Idaho. We provide specialized psychiatric evaluation and medication management by telehealth and partner with OB/GYNs, midwives, therapists, primary-care clinicians, fertility professionals, and other providers caring for patients during pregnancy and postpartum.

Who We Treat
Gravida Psychiatry serves individuals who are navigating the emotional and psychological challenges of the perinatal period. Our patients include:

- ✅ Postpartum women — up to 1 year after delivery (and beyond when clinically appropriate)
- ✅ Those who have experienced pregnancy loss, NICU stays, or traumatic birth

- ✅ Partners and support persons experiencing perinatal mood disorders
We work with patients across the full spectrum — from mild depression or anxiety to complex psychiatric presentations requiring careful medication management during pregnancy and lactation.
Telehealth Availability
🏔️ Washington State
Gravida Psychiatry is fully licensed to provide telehealth psychiatry services throughout Washington State, including rural and underserved communities. Patients do not need to travel — appointments can be conducted securely via video. In-person visits available in Spokane, WA.
🌲 Idaho State
We also serve patients in Idaho via secure telehealth. Whether your patient is in Boise, Coeur d’Alene, or a rural community, they can access perinatal psychiatric care without leaving home.
Conditions Appropriate for Referral
We welcome referrals for patients experiencing any of the following during pregnancy or the postpartum period:
Perinatal Depression
Persistent low mood, tearfulness, hopelessness, or inability to bond with baby.
Perinatal Anxiety
Excessive worry, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or hypervigilance about baby's health.
Bipolar Disorder
Mood stabilization during pregnancy or postpartum, including medication safety counseling.
PTSD / Birth Trauma
Trauma related to birth, NICU, or pregnancy loss.
Psychiatric Medication Management
Patients needing safe, evidence-based medication guidance during pregnancy or lactation.
OCD (Perinatal)
Intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviors that emerge or worsen during the perinatal period.
Pre-conception Psychiatric Planning
Patients with existing mental health conditions preparing for pregnancy.
Our Medication Management Approach
Gravida Psychiatry is a medication management–focused practice. We specialize in the safe and evidence-based use of psychiatric medications during pregnancy and the postpartum period, including:
- 💊 Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs) — safety in pregnancy and lactation
- 💊 Mood stabilizers — risk-benefit counseling for bipolar disorder
- 💊 Non-pharmacologic adjuncts — when appropriate and discussed collaboratively
- 💊 Medication tapering or initiation at pivotal perinatal transitions
We work collaboratively with your care team and keep referring providers informed. Care is provided by Michael Colver, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with Perinatal Mental Health Certification.

Gravida Psychiatry accepts both insurance and cash-pay for our telehealth services. We are in-network with a number of insurance plans across Washington and Idaho — and we warmly welcome self-pay patients as well.

Not seeing your insurance? You may still be able to receive care as a self-pay patient. We are happy to provide a Superbill (itemized receipt) upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Can Patients Self-Refer?
Yes! Patients are absolutely welcome to self-refer. A formal referral from a provider is not required to schedule an appointment. Patients can reach out directly by:

Current Appointment Availability
We are currently accepting new patients. Estimated wait time for an initial evaluation is approximately 1–2 weeks from the time of contact, though this may vary based on clinical urgency and scheduling.
For urgent perinatal psychiatric needs (e.g., postpartum psychosis, active suicidality), please encourage patients to seek emergency care or call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). We are not a crisis service.

He provides psychiatric assessment and medication management for adults throughout Washington and Idaho, with specialized expertise in medication decisions during pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding.
